08.07.07 is code for?

What do you guys think? Post your comments to this blog and lets see which one of you sorry bastards is right. There will be a redesigned CNC3 Newsletter going out on that day as well. Whatever it is it has to be big so tune in.

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars - The Novel

EA and Del Rey have announced they are working on a novel for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. I find this exciting mainly because I haven't played the campaign due the FMVs lagging like crazy. Here is more information:

EA AND DEL REY ANNOUNCE NOVEL BASED ON POPULAR COMMAND & CONQUER GAME SERIES
Gaming Universe Expands to New Forms of Media

CHERTSEY, UK - April 26, 2007 - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, announced today that Del Rey will publish a novel based on the critically-acclaimed Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars™ computer and videogame on 29th May 2007 in the US and Canada. The novel will release in the U.K. and Germany in the months following. The game is available now for the PC and will be in stores 11th May 2007 for the Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system.

In COMMAND & CONQUER: TIBERIUM WARS™, the novel by Keith R. A. DeCandido, the year is 2047 and the stakes could not be higher. Tiberium--a self-replicating alien substance that has infected the Earth--is spreading like a radioactive ice age. The Global Defense Initiative, a high-tech alliance of the world's most advanced nations, is fighting to contain Tiberium, but Kane, the megalomaniacal leader of the Brotherhood of Nod has other plans for Earth. Kane's secret society turned superpower is bent on using Tiberium to take control and transform humanity into his twisted vision of the future. In the midst of battles throughout the world, a third alien race emerges, and all-out war rages over Tiberium. The fate of the planet rests in the balance.

"We're excited to expand the Command & Conquer franchise to a new form of media and offer a depth to the underlying fiction of the game series like never before," said Patrick O'Brien, VP of Business Affairs at EA. "Keith DeCandido wrote a great story, and we're pleased to have partnered with him and Del Rey."

Del Rey editor Keith Clayton said, "Command & Conquer remains one of the most popular and well-reviewed gaming franchises, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to work on an original story set in EA's Tiberium Universe."

CNC3 Release Review! - By Kanadwen

March 30th, 2007. - Review by Forum Member Kanadwen

Download the latest patches at:
CNC3 Patches Here

Article:
I round up some games to trade-in, Need for Speed: Carbon (Wii), Beatmania (PS2), and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Xbox) to be exact, and I went to my local Gamestop! It's amazing when you're handed a game that you've been waiting for since 1999! After opening it and reading the manual on the drive home to get psyched up, I installed it and go everything working.

First thing I do when I get a game working is try it online. I selected Automatch and was waiting to get connected, a couple of moments later, I get an error saying that it cannot connect to another player and I should open some ports and disable my firewall blah blah blah, usual stuff. Well, I exited, and realized this computer has been on a DMZ and every single port was open, and no firewall even installed besides the Windows XP one, but that was disabled, always been disabled. I figured it was just my computer, and rebooted.

I launch C&C3, and sit there in darkness for about two minutes until it finally loads up, and I try online again. Still no luck. I figured it was me, so I just tried to play single player missions for now. I was praying that the out of sync problem wouldn't transfer over from the demo to retail. Boy was I disappointed. Super horrible out of sync, worse than the demo occurred. So I stopped playing Campaign. Yes, I could of skipped the videos, but I have to have my videos. It's a C&C tradition!

I was fed up with it, and hit the EA Technical Forums. There was countless topics of “HELP ME! PLZ! ZOMG!”, literally. So, I couldn't play two sections of the game, a little disappointed but still excited I try out the Scrin during a Skirmish. The Scrin is nothing what I thought they would be. I thought they were gonna be “Money Makers”! The only Tiberium upgrade they have is the Growth Accelerator. Other than that, they're pretty cool, They feel like a very weak GLA from Generals, but hold the super power awards like China towards the end of a match. I'm still dieing to play the Campaign, but will have to wait. I've actually been able to sneak a couple of online matches here and there, won some, lost some. Overall, I give this game a 8.5 out of 10.

Why CNC3 Kicks So Much A*S - New Details & Videos

Four great new videos were released on Gamespot including a video from their developer talking about some kick a*s features of the game. The latest videos have a lot of sexy hot Alien penetration action. Seriously they are not holding back on anything so far; read below to learn about features that you will wish other mutli player games had.

Cool Facts:
Stances:

- Each unit has 4 different stances from aggressive to passive (hold fire)

- You can set these stances not from only the units but from the buildings that create these units. So you can have your boys all amped up right out the door.

Directional Fire:
Most units will have more armor up front and less armor to the sides and even less to the rear. This introduces the logic that you want your units to face incoming fire versus take it in the rear and get killed faster. The cool aspect to CNC3 is that you can order your units to face a direction and then backup while firing. More realistic and it should serve to look pretty slick in the game. The flip side is that you will position your units accordingly when taking up defensive postures against an attack.

Aliens:

- They do not need silos. NO CAPS ON THEIR MONEY
- They also get more money per Tiberium Charge than NOD and GDI
- They can reseed any Tiberium Field that they want so they will never run out of Tiberium
- They build units and vehicles at a much faster rate than GDI and NOD allowing them to overwhealm their enemy.

Who will Play Alien:
- The more "hardcore rusher aggressive player" will flock to Alien

New Features:

- EA is making some moves to open up RTS more as a sport. The game will allow spectators and observers to really enjoy watching other people play. They even have it so people can act as commentators calling out the game highlights play by play. The better commentators can gain popularity over time or at least it was implied there was a system in place to track this.

- Voice over IP will be tied into the game.
- Use of something like a "Telestrator" will be available for commentators.
- Free spectator client will be available for download.

EA Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium website.

Kane LIVES to lead NOD - New Trailer Released

****Breaking News - KANE is alive to lead NOD - New Trailer Released ****
--> Video Communication Anonymous Source Via Brotherhood of NOD <--

Just in Kane has surfaced alive and well, ready to lead NOD in fierce battle against the GDI in CNC3. In previous articles Mike Verdu focused on GDI but now finally we are getting to see the other side NOD! The new units for NOD look really nice and yes oh so EVIL. Mike Verdu described NOD as "Nod has the people, resources, organization, and raw military power necessary to stand against GDI and wage war on a global scale. Yet the Brotherhood of Nod isn't a country. It's a strange new hybrid organization that has the combined characteristics of a religious movement, a multinational corporation, and a nation-state." NOD is able to go against the worlds most powerful military and hold their own which is quite impressive. It really comes down to one major point on contension.

Trailer and full article available at: Gamespot

Stopping Tiberium (GDI)
vs.
Allowing Tiberium to Consume the World (NOD)

Neither side is willing to give ground and both sides believe their cause is the right cause to save the world and free the people of the other. A perfect setting for a very classic and nasty war. All that being said NOD just so happens to be run by the ever so charming psycho Kane who has resurfaced once again to take on GDI. He should be dead you say? Ahhhh well there may be some mystery behind how he came back. We really dont know but we are going to keep the door of possibilities open on that angle.

The video transmission from NOD:

"Welcome to the Brotherhood of Nod. You have joined a global order with millions of members all working together in harmony to unite the world in the name of peace and realize the true potential of mankind.

Our relationship with Tiberium has always been greatly misunderstood. Most people do not realize that the roots of our faith extend back several millennia, long before the emergence of the green crystal on Earth in 1995...an event prophesized by our great leader, Kane.

While the fascist political consortium of wealthy nations known as the Global Defense Initiative attempted to control the sacred green crystal, the Brotherhood worked tirelessly to acquire samples of the precious crystal...to study it, to unlock its potential as a new energy source, to explore its possibilities. Through our research and our faith, we have affirmed that Tiberium is the ultimate gift to mankind. It is the key to the future.

Our movement grew rapidly throughout the first decades of the twenty-first century. The mainstream media branded us as 'terrorists,' but we exposed GDI forces as the real criminals. They unilaterally redrew international border lines, relegating Nod followers into inhospitable yellow zone while they claimed the pristine and exclusive blue zones all for themselves.

Meanwhile, the Brotherhood champions the common people--the 80% of the world's population that struggles to get by in yellow zones torn by war, wracked by poverty, and abandoned by GDI. Using Tiberium to fuel and fund our efforts, Nod works tirelessly to bring order from the chaos. We make the streets safe, distribute food to the hungry, provide emergency medical care, minister to those who feel a spiritual vacuum, and inspire hope in people who would otherwise have none.

GDI casts itself as the world's guardian and savior, but it is neither. GDI is corrupt and unjust: 20% of the world's population--the most wealthy people on the planet--live in the blue zones, consuming the majority of the world's natural resources, wielding its vast military power to maintain the status quo by depriving the downtrodden of their god-given right to mine and exploit Tiberium.

The powerful oppress the weak in the hollow name of freedom and the only counter to GDI's power is the Brotherhood. Nod meets strength with strength in the name of peace and progress. Nod is the only hope against GDI tyranny. Brotherhood...Unity...Peace."

End Transmission

NOD blames GDI and GDI blames NOD but the reality is that Tiberium is slowly causing an ecological and worldwide disaster. NOD collects its memebers from the poor and desperate peoples of the world living in the difficult yellow zones.

Is NOD Capable?
Although it would appear that NOD's military is unorganized and weak it is actually quite the opposite. NOD is able to operate through a decentralized system in the decaying and crumbling cities found in yellow zones. It is able to move large armies or large distances un-detected by the best sensor equipment available.

NOD Army:
Fast, stealth, and a mix of highly trained and hastily put together infantry. NOD's army really represents its makeup of both sophisticated elite forces combined with guerilla poorly trained forces. NOD is not afraid to put it's soldiers at risk in order to gain added speed and power with it's weapons. The downside to this added ability is unstable and dangerous weapons. NOD also has new Tiberium based weapons that deal a lethal blow to anything that gets in their way.

NOD units include attack bikes, raider buggies, Scorpion tanks, latest-generation stealth tank, Vertigo batwig bombers, and VTOL Venom scout aircraft and the high end deadly avatar warmechs among other units. The avatar warmechs can actually use weapons systems from other units and incorporate into their own arsenal. In regards to infantry NOD has a grunt poorly trained militant force as well as highly trained elite forces such as black hand shock troops, and a hang-glider equipped shadow.

Coming Soon:
"And in the coming months, we will take the wraps off of our mysterious third faction."
- Mike Verdu

The message ended with:
"You cannot kill the Messiah..."
Our message to Kane - Welcome back!!!
